James O' Dea is an international activist and teacher involved in societal healing and reconciliation initiatives. He lectures, and leads workshops and seminars on the interface between personal and collective healing, and global transformation. He has just returned from working with 50 peace makers in Northern Ireland and is part of a team working with Israeli and Palestinian psychologists. He recently created The Progress and Transformation Indicator for use in evaluating prisoner rehabilitation programs. He consults and advises several organizations including Sustainable Futures and Seed Graduate Institute.

James is former Director of Amnesty International's Washington Office, former Executive Director of The Seva Foundation and former President of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, where he is a Fellow. James has also lived and worked in places of war, human rights abuse and extreme poverty. He has led international dialogues with leaders in the field of forgiveness, healing and reconciliation. His recent essays include: Creative Atonement in a Time of Peril, Slouching Towards Global Transformation, Leaving the Forbidden City: the meta-story of our times, You Were Born for such a Time as This (Sounds True: The Mystery of 2012).
